Christmas cards, birthdays gifts, anniversary presents, even cuddly toys are available from ‘Occasions’, one of Ballycastle’s newest businesses which opened last month.

Cathy McCormick, from Ballycastle, is the proprietor of the card and gift shop, which is based on Ann Street in Ballycastle.

She stated: “I decided to open Occasions after trying to get a great card and present for someone, and unfortunately, to get what I was looking for I had to shop outside of Ballycastle. I then realised that a market might exist, and then started to plan for my new business.

“Occasions is a card and gift shop, stocking everything from cards for birthdays and Christmas, right through to wrapping paper, boxes, novelty gifts, cuddly toys and small speciality gifts for those people who mean most to us.

“So, whether you want to be romantic and intimate, funny and cheerful, or just show someone that you are thinking of them, we will have something that will make the right impression and get the message across.”

Councillor Madeline Black, Chairperson of Moyle District Council said, “Cathy is a great example of a female entrepreneur who saw a business opportunity, and has gone for it!

“Cathy is participating on the Start a Business Programme which is funded by Moyle District Council and Invest NI. Her husband Sean also has his own very successful business, and it is great to see a family of talented entrepreneurs.”
