Three longtime local businesses are sprouting new growth under one roof.

The Centre South shopping center on Silver Bluff Road has taken on a new look as two longtime businesses converge under one roof with the addition of a new business.

On Sept. 1, the doors to the old Southside Gallery reopened as Material Things, a decorating store concentrating on the use of textiles, and the Oriental Rug Specialist revamped its stores and joined forces with the soon-to-open Red Pepper Cafe and Gifts under the same roof.

The partnership between Katy Liscomb, owner of Material Things, and Margaret Noisworthy, owner of Oriental Rug Specialist, began more than 10 years ago when the two shared a space before outgrowing their location and seeking individual storefronts. Liscomb’s brother will run the new cafe and gift shop.
