Middleton, MA – The Retailers Association of Massachusetts (RAM) has named Mason & Madison of Middleton as one of the state’s top retailers, honoring them with the Rookie of the Year award.

RAM announced the winners of its 2009 Awards of Excellence at an awards ceremony luncheon last week in Waltham, marking the 12th anniversary of the Retailer’s Association of Massachusetts Awards of Excellence.

“Mason & Madison represents some of the best retailing that Massachusetts has to offer,” said Jon Hurst, president of RAM. “Their new Middleton location is unique and is the best new retailer we have seen over the past year.”

With the recent opening of their location in the Middleton Green Shopping Village (in the space formerly occupied by Vero’s Salon), Mason & Madison has impressed their customers with custom-made gifts for any occasion. Featuring crafts made by several Middleton artists, the gift shop features one-of-a-kind custom pieces available only at the Middleton location.

“We are very excited to be receiving this award,” said Liz White, of Mason & Madison, a longtime resident of Middleton. “It has been an amazing year for our company and it’s truly an honor to have our accomplishments recognized by our peers in the industry.”

White said she first subleased a small spot within the “Simply Beautiful” gift shop in Topsfield for several months before settling her business into the center of Middleton. A member of the Middleton Board of Trade, she recently spearheaded a booklet called “Shop Middleton” and is one of the driving forces behind the Web site shopmiddleton.org.
