Shady Maple Celebrates 40th Anniversary
East Earl Township, PA – From its start as a small roadside stand to what it is today, the Shady Maple Farm Market sure has changed over the years.
Now, the family-owned business, which has grown to include a popular smorgasbord and gift shop, is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Members of the Weaver family cut the ribbon to celebrate the grand reopening of the market in East Earl Township, Lancaster County this morning.
Exactly one year ago, ground was broken on a 14,000 square foot addition. The new space is actually more than three times the size of the family’s first store.
The market now features a new entrance with a car port, higher ceilings, new tile floors, and more checkout space.
Officials said it’s been a long year.
“The dust, the dirt, the frustration, sometimes,” said Elwood Martin, president, Shady Maple Companies. “And it’s like a woman having a baby. You go through labor, it’s terrible, and then you hold the newborn, and that’s what we’re doing here. We’re embracing this new building and the joy is unbelievable.”
