‘No need to travel for your holiday gifts,’ chamber executive saysBy CarmiTimes.com

Carmi, Ill. — When it comes to this year’s Christmas shopping, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Glenn Coleman suggests you park the car on Carmi’s Main Street and shop your hometown first.

“There is no need to travel out of town for your holiday gifts,” Coleman said. “Our retailers have expanded their product lines to be able to meet all your Christmas gift list needs.”

Shoppers will get their first look at the holiday offerings during the weekend opening of “It’s a White County Christmas” on Nov. 19 and 20. A craft and gift show has been added to the festival to give residents a chance to purchase unique gifts from a variety of local vendors. The show will open at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 in the basement of the Farm Bureau Building and be open until 3 p.m.

Carmians Mike Pfister and Greg Leggett have pooled their talents and interests to organize the show. Shoppers will be able to purchase wood crafts, jewelry, Mary Kay cosmetics, Snap-On Tools, Longaberger baskets, pen and ink sketches and sports cards and memorabilia at the show.

“Our established local retailers are the foundation of Carmi’s downtown,” Coleman said. “When you see all that these retailers have to offer, I challenge you to stay in Carmi and support your friends and neighbors when doing your holiday shopping.”
