American Fork Hobby Lobby Grand Opening To Take Place MondayBy Barbara ChristiansenHeraldExtra.com

American Fork’s new Hobby Lobby will officially open its doors to the public at ceremonies Monday at 9 a.m.

The store, at 240 N. West State St., American Fork, is the sixth in Utah. Others are in Logan, Layton, Sandy, South Jordan and Orem. From noon to 2 p.m. they will give away 25 Hobby Lobby gift cards.

For the five business days before the official grand opening, customers were perusing items from the 13 departments of the store. If they wanted to do a good job, it could take a long time. Hobby Lobby stocks 65,000 different items, many with a choice of colors. The store carries items in floral, fabric, needlework, art, hobbies, wearables, jewelry, crafts, cards, party, scrapbooking, seasonal and home accents.

“We can really give people a wide variety and selection of products at competitive prices,” store manager Steve Canet said. He commented on the atmosphere at the store prior to the grand opening.

“All the customers that are in here right now, walking around and checking everything out — they are excited,” he said. “We as a company are excited to be here also. The response from the community has been very, very supportive.”

This is Canet’s first assignment as a manager. He has worked at two other Hobby Lobby stores in Colorado.

He pledged that the employees would offer great customer service.

“We want to help every one of our customers who come into the store find what they are looking for,” he said. “We want to give them options. The only reason we are here is for the customers. They are the No. 1 priority. We want to make them happy, take care of them. And having the product and the product knowledge is very key for us.”
