BILOXI — Thousands of tourists are in South Mississippi this Memorial Day holiday weekend and many of them are shopping for souvenirs.

They find T-shirts and collectible spoons at the beach souvenir shops and also at gift shops, museum stores, casinos, galleries and even gas stations.

“We’re looking for souvenirs for family and friends,” said Candace Youngblood, of Kosciusko, who was shopping at Souvenir City in Biloxi. Her nephew, Ethan Settlemir, 3, had already found a pop gun, while his sister, Bella, 7 went in search of shells.
