Rebounding Economy Brings New Business to The Plaza

Dallas Market Center recently announced that its International Trade Plaza (The Plaza) is now home to new and long-term lease exhibitors due to the strong Market showings in 2011 and early in 2012. The showrooms join the Outdoor Living shared showroom, Dallas Design Supply, and the many other permanent floral and holiday décor showrooms housed in the 440,000-square-foot building.

“Showrooms located in The Plaza are an ideal, open-daily resource for interior designers and buyers; the growth in the building only adds to its extensive product offerings,” said Cindy Morris, COO, Dallas Market Center. “Outdoor Living far exceeded its annual goals for 2011 and Dallas Design Supply has gained an incredible following of loyal buyers in less than a year since its grand opening.”

Outdoor Living (The Plaza 1-1F201), the 31,000-square-foot showroom dedicated to all things outdoors, saw multi-million dollar sales during Markets; approximately 1 million dollars in revenue during non-Market time; and daily, non-Market traffic of more than 5,000 buyers in 2011. Dallas Market Center hosts 50,000 attendees during major Total Home & Gift Markets in January and June.

Dallas Design Supply (The Plaza 1-1F314) is the one-stop shop for display and design professionals offering event planners, visual merchandisers, interior designers, florists and real estate stagers everything needed to bring their visions to life, right off the shelf, right now, with no minimums. Inventory includes seasonal décor, floral containers and supplies, candles, ribbon, party supplies and permanent botanicals. The showroom hosts monthly, well-attended free seminars on a range of floral and décor subjects.

New showrooms joining The Plaza are Karen Didion Originals (The Plaza 2-2F433) and Roofian (The Plaza 2-2F417). Artist Karen Didion specializes in “capturing your memories” with design focused on the holiday seasons and Roofian manufacturers gift and floral baskets.

“American artist Karen Didion is excited to open her new showroom in Dallas,” said Jill Blackford, Karen Didion Originals. “Karen has been a Santa Claus artist for 15 years and just launched her classic home collection.”

“We’re excited to be back in Dallas in our new showroom,” said Hooman Roofian, Roofian. “We look forward to a great year with all of our new friends and neighbors.”

Recently, PMJC (1-1F444), Pacific Sunshine (1-1F116) and Majestic Handicrafts (1-1F122) signed long-term leases in The Plaza.

Also, TJ Collection will relocate from the World Trade Center to The Plaza 1-1F117 in June.

“We are eager to move to The Plaza at the Dallas Market Center and believe this new showroom will help us find new customers and continue to grow,” said Jim Mitchell, TJ Collection. During the first Dallas Market of the year, American Best (The Plaza 2-2F160) and Gold Eagle (The Plaza 2-2F140) opened new showrooms of more than 4,000 square feet.

“American Best has seen an increase in our buyer traffic since the opening of our new showroom,” said Melissa Harjo, American Best. “The added visibility allows us to touch and convert more prospective customers. We hope to continue to see significant growth in our sales, and we are excited about the feedback we are receiving from customers.”
