San Francisco, CA – The tiny Yone bead shop in North Beach has been open since 1953. You read that correctly.

It’s dark and cluttered, and finding what you need may take time. The hours are limited, and parking’s a nightmare. But serious jewelry designers just brace themselves.

“This store is not for the weak,” Kim S. wrote recently on Yelp. “If you can handle digging through the piles and racks of Ross Dress for Less after Dress Week, you can handle Yone’s Beads. … Roll up your sleeves and dive in.”
