GirlNation Launches New Teen Lifestyle Brand Dedicated to Empowering Girls
GirlNation, a lifestyle brand of licensed artwork with a target market of 10-15 year-old girls, today announced that the brand will be introduced at the International Licensing Expo, June 17-19, held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
GirlNation is built on an original and contemporary creed: a “hand over your heart pledge” for girls to “be true to yourself.” Combining strong, dynamic typography, empowering quotes and timeless, colorful doodle art that girls have elevated to an art form, this unique, new brand delivers a fresh, edgy design style intended for apparel, bedding, fashion and home accessories, wall art, stationery and greeting cards. The GirlNation brand strives to give girls an alternative message to many traditional media stereotypes relating to body image and personal achievement. GirlNation stands apart from other tween/teen brands because of its dual appeal to both girls and the adults in their lives who strive to empower and encourage them in a positive and healthy way.
“GirlNation endeavors to take the evolving and ever growing ‘girl empowerment’ movement one step further by speaking directly to girls and inspiring them with fun, dynamic graphics and the words to help them find their own voice. GirlNation is all about encouraging girls to embrace what makes them unique and help them declare their strength and originality in a fun and creative way while still recognizing the femininity that is innate to who they are,” President, Deb Dittmer stated.
Co-President Vicki De Roeck added: “Encouraging strength and assertiveness in girls is not about trying to make them more like boys. We want to embrace the femininity of girls and help them re-conceptualize their idea of what makes them beautiful. We developed the GirlNation creed to advocate this concept and provide girls with a doctrine that promotes female strength, self approval and empowerment.”
About Girl Nation:
GirlNation evolved during the time period after the two design partners sent their daughters off to college: two strong, independent and confident young women with a strong sense of self. In tackling the wreckage of their high school bedrooms and trying to bring some kind of order to their adolescent chaos, Dittmer and De Roeck compared notes and found a very common thread to both environments. Both girls had infinite collections of various ephemera with uplifting and encouraging quotes and powerful statements about being authentic, strong and embracing their true selves. These collections were in the form of collages made lovingly by friends, doodles torn out of notebooks or just pages ripped out of magazines and taped to the wall. They truly felt they had found a unique insight into the power of positive messaging in the girls’ day-to-day lives. Armed with this powerful revelation, they needed to share this compelling ideal and create a brand that would give all girls the opportunity to benefit from these dynamic declarations and embrace them as their own. So was born, GirlNation.
GirlNation creates artwork designed for girls to help them declare their strength and individuality. The GirlNation creed recites the philosophy of the brand. As a new brand, the creators are looking to gain interest and support for the brand by offering a free download of “The Creed”, a beautiful example of the artwork and typography of the brand and a powerful statement to inspire and to share. The Creed is available on the website at www.itsagirlnation.com and on its Facebook page. They are looking for 5,000 downloads before they leave for the licensing show in June.
