Keeping Holiday Gifts Local on Small Business Saturday
Hillcrest, NY – As she browsed the displays at Phil’s Gift Shop in Hillcrest, Chris Longo said holiday shopping at a quiet place like this was preferable to the hectic atmosphere in some larger retailers.
She walked into the gift shop just in time for Small Business Saturday, a time when the holiday season spotlight is cast on independent business owners that can sometimes be overshadowed by big box stores. Some of Saturday’s shoppers enjoyed the chance to keep their dollars local and get a personalized experience.
More than 20 businesses in the Binghamton area take part in the Small Business Saturday campaign.
