Bed & Butter opened its doors in September 2014 and adds a specialization in home, kitchen, baby and wedding gifts customers have been wanting in downtown Ann Arbor.

Owner Lisa Roberts, who also owns Rock Paper Scissors a few doors down on Main Street, said the market for a store like Bed & Butter has been in demand for a while.

“At Rock Paper Scissors we were continually hearing from our customers that they wanted a place to get great bedding, tableware and find unique baby, wedding and everyday gifts. With Bed & Butter, we can do just that,” Roberts said.

Roberts said with the closing of Ann Arbor institutions like John Leidy, Selo Shevel and La Belle Maison, she and her staff were excited about the opportunity to provide the community with a place to buy gifts and home goods locally.

A focus for Bed & Butter is wedding gifts and registry, something Roberts has prided herself and the staff in to provide quality customer service.

“We feel that our personal touch, level of customer service and ability to get to know our clients separates ourselves from a big-box or chain store,” Roberts said. The staff is trained on the background of each brand they sell and has a passion for helping clients create memorable gifts.
