Ron Hoy is a third-generation retailer with a passion for beautiful things and a love of art glass. Grandson of a fine artist and portrait photographer, son of an artist father and retail entrepreneur mother, Ron managed one of his parents’ gift stores in Chicago’s historic Chinatown when he was just a teen. He currently oversees his own stores in Orlando and Chicago, including a store in O’Hare airport.
One of only a few independently owned retail stores located in Orlando’s Downtown Disney Marketplace, HoYPoLoi offers unique gifts and eclectic handcrafted items from around the world including many products from American artists which include Tim Cotterill’s Frogman series, Josh Simpson’s glass art and jewelry by Tracy Davis.
Since opening in 1997 and frequented by celebrities, tourists and locals, the invitation printed on HoYPoLoi’s front window says it all, “You are invited to come in and experience our world of serenity and inspiration. Brought together from various reaches of the world are artists’ works, which exhibit creativity and spirit. It is our hope that you will leave with our heartfelt gift to you – the memory and feeling of inspiration and peace.”
