The United Kingdom area of the Epcot World Showcase is a bustling shopping destination. The shops are filled with treasures from various regions of the UK. A seamless blend of architecture takes you from the streets of London to an English cottage and yet these storefronts are simply sections of a single store.
Inside The Queen’s Table shop, authentic United Kingdom merchandise is displayed alongside products designed with a distinctive Disney twist. An entire section of the store is devoted to the sterling silver classic Kit Heath designs. Tucked within the display are a few specially commissioned earrings and pendants in the iconic shape of Mickey’s ears. Gift retailers in tourist and resort areas have long struggled with ways to incorporate souvenirs into a mix of higher end gift merchandise. Disney has mastered this art through training they call “merchantainment” where visual merchandisers learn to create displays that merge branded products with merchandise unique to a store’s theme.
