Just off the Rittenhouse neighborhood, Omoi Zakka is a hip gift shop with a Japanese feel and an impressive stationery selection.

In both high school and college, owner Liz Sieber visited Japan through exchange programs and fell in love with the aesthetic.

After finishing her business degree, Sieber opened Omoi Zakka in 2006. She calls the Japanese “curators of the world,” and says that shop owners there are always on the lookout for well-designed products from all over the globe. The Japanese way of “keeping up tradition” is near to her heart as well.

She notes that Japanese “lifestyle shops” have a very high product turnover. Omoi Zakka reflects that too, as much of the stock comes directly from Japan. “We constantly have a rotating, evolving selection of merchandise,” Sieber says. “It’s nice to feel current.”
