Sparks Cards & Gifts

Locals know the secret: hit Sparks Cards & Gifts for funny cards and gag gifts. Owner Blair Newberry bought the iconic store on the corner of Sixth and Lamar (now famous for across-the-street-neighbor the flagship Whole Foods) three years ago and has since infused the store with her wicked sense of humor. The store is known for being funny and being authentically Austin. Newberry handpicks every single card in the shop so she can assure the merchandise will get laughs.

Tourists have discovered the shop too as a source for Austin flavor. Newberry’s biggest seller is the legendary “Keep Austin Weird” T-shirt, an item locals and visitors alike love. The shop’s books, mugs, stickers, buttons, games, magnets, and toys continue in the same funky vein, making Sparks Cards & Gifts a fun place to be—and get a laugh—any day of the week.
