Moorea Seal began her entrepreneurial career in 2010 with just $10, some hand-me-down jewelry tools, an illustration degree, and a lot of determination. She began her journey juggling blogging, illustration, music, graphic design and making jewelry by hand. In 2011, her jewelry line began to gain a devoted following among the blogging community. By the next year, her Pinterest account became one of the most followed platforms, with nearly 1 million followers. In 2013, Moorea Seal co-founded the retail site www.mooreaseal.com and the Seattle-based storefront by the same name in 2014.

In addition to building a brand, Moorea Seal released her first book in 2015 titled “The 52 Lists Project,” a journal about using weekly listmaking to improve your life. Within months of its release, “The 52 Lists Project” was featured on Oprah.com, reached No. 51 out of 8 million books on Amazon.com, and was stocked in more than 200 stores worldwide. In 2016, the follow-up journal, “52 Lists for Happiness” was released. Accompanying the release of Moorea Seal’s second book was the launch of a locally made jewelry line, as well as a home and office goods lines.

The Moorea Seal store is located in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle, which has a lush restaurant and nightlife with emerging retail presence. The store features a curated selection of accessories and objects, highlighting handmade artists from the United States alongside carefully selected goods from across the globe. Taking inspiration from the adventuresome spirit of the great Pacific Northwest, their aesthetic is a fresh, chic and sleek approach to modern women’s accessories and décor with a touch of rustic sensibility.

When it comes to shop local initiatives, Moorea Seal collaborates with other local stores and artisans in pop-up shops, craft fairs and other events.

“We seek to do good beyond the material, creating a community that empowers and supports others,” said Tram Phi, store operations lead and buyer. “Seven percent of all proceeds from our store benefit five nonprofit categories, many of which are local charities and initiatives, all of which are close to our hearts.”

“Our ethos is based in the belief that all people not only deserve a healthy life, but a beautiful, more magical and inspiring one as well. Each of our products is designed with that intention,” Phi said. At Moorea Seal, their motivation is not only to do great as a store, but also to do good for others. “We believe that the more someone gains, the more she or he is responsible for doing something positive for the world,” Phi added.
