With one of the longest tenures in Aspen, Chepita has prided itself on having a unique, classy, yet accessible selection of jewelry, watches and artwork. The store, which has been in business for more than 20 years, is named for the wife of a Ute Indian chief who was known for her progressive spirit. According to manager Nick Russo, the store started out with just Southwestern jewelry and Mexican folk art. It is now characterized as being more hip, funky and sometimes whimsical.
