A small business guide to using FoursquareBy Paula JacobsHelium.com

Foursquare is the new social network marketing app the allow members to check in and reveal their location. Many businesses have seen a rise in the number of people who find out about them through a comment or tip on Foursquare. This new way of discovering the one-of-a-kind antique shop, or the coffee shop that is the perfect place to study has given businesses a fun, rewarding way to market their good and services.

One of the most important things a small business has to do is attract and keep their customers. Foursquare is not only a unique opportunity to increase customer base, but the reward of points, ‘Badges’ and bragging rights can help to be an incentive to bring customers back again and again.

Many people who use Foursquare have set their sights on becoming the Mayor of their favorite location(s). A business can use this as a way to reward customers in their own way. Restaurants can offer all Mayors a free meal or a dessert on their birthday. A gift shop can give a free gift on birthdays or the day a customer become Mayor.

If your business is not on Foursquare, go to Foursquare.com and start an account. Place a few advertisements in your store about the free gift to all Mayors and offer everyone a small free gift if they go to Foursquare on the spot and leave a tip about your business.
