Accent on Design Exhibitors Honored

New York, NY – Superlative product design was recognized yesterday at the New York International Gift Fair, where four exhibitors in the juried Accent on Design division were honored for design creativity and ingenuity. Accent on Design runs through Wednesday, February 6, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Accent on Design awards for Best New Product Design and Best Collection were presented to:

Best New Product Design:

Parametre tm by 3form (Salt Lake City, UT), for its innovative 3D textile system that redefines space, creating shade, shadow and light with soft walls. 3form is a first-time participant in Accent on Design.

Best Collection:

Creative Danes (Encinitas, CA), for its Menu Collection, presenting unusual applications of materials and surprising solutions for everyday products. Creative Danes is a first-time participant in Accent on Design.

Best Booth Presentation:

Working Class Studio/Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, GA), for creating an energetic and youthful environment, showcasing their collection in its best light.

Overall Excellence:

Mizzonk (Maple Ridge, BC, Canada) for a remarkable ability to follow a personal vision and transform it into product, collection, presentation and booth.

“The winter 2008 Accent on Design award winners represent the broad scope of design aesthetics – from industrial to artisanal,” said Priscila Onou, divisional manager. “The award winners reflect not only talent and ingenuity of finished product, but also passion for design and creativity.”

Judging criteria included innovation, function, originality and design. The February 2008Accent on Design Selection Committee includes: Miguel Calvo, Design& Research; Judy Dunne, Butter and Eggs; David Reid and James Klein, Kleinreid; Ilene Shaw, Shaw + Co! Productions; and Jon Weatherman, Museum Consultant.
