Unique Channahon shop relocates to ‘the perfect spot’By Kris StadalskySuburbanChicagoNews.com

Channahon, IL — Aimee’s Cottage is one of many success stories of small businesses popping up on U.S. 6.

In less than a year of opening, the craft, gift and home decor shop expanded and now occupies a larger space in the Annie B’s building.

Owner Aimee Waldron held a grand re-opening Friday to introduce her expanded inventory to the community. Channahon Mayor Joe Cook and building owner Bill Vessel, along with other village dignitaries, were on hand to celebrate and welcome Waldron.

“We are pleased to see Aimee’s Cottage move to a location that is more visible to Route 6,” said Cook. “I encourage anyone who hasn’t visited this unique shop to do so. There is truly something for everyone’s interest.”

A resident of Channahon for seven years, Waldron said she loves crafts and has always wanted to have her own store in a small town. As a young girl, while traveling to Tomahawk, Wis., her family would stop at small shops, and she just loved all the crafts and gift items.

Waldron took her love of crafts and expertise in art and home decor and turned it into a successful business. She carries some work from local artisans and hand picks the rest; everything from candles to baby gifts to home decorating items fills the store.
