Ambiente Presents Intelligent Products With Hit Potential

The ‘Solutions’ special show at Ambiente presents products with the potential to become genuine sales hits. The concept of this highly successful exhibition is to create a platform for showing functional innovations by exhibitors of the world’s leading trade fair for the consumer-goods sector. The selection of products to be shown at the coming fair has been made by curator and designer Sebastian Bergne together with Gabriele Heins (‘Der Feinschmecker’ magazine) and Claus Tormöhlen (‘GALERIA Kaufhof’ department store).

According to Bergne, the products chosen include, “numerous products for preparing food – simple little ideas for making food preparation easier or better. In many cases, they are cooking aids. However, some are designed for more complex tasks, for example, baking aids or even products for decorating plates or food for presentation; in other words, really difficult kitchen jobs.” Following the success of the first special show at Ambiente 2012 we had at least double if not three times the number of products entered this time. Now, 23 products designed to make life easier for their users have been selected from this multitude of entries. Thomas Kastl, Director of Dining at Ambiente, is very impressed by the selection: “Many of the products are new on the market and offer great benefits for the household or kitchen for relatively little money. They are the sort of products that people like to buy on the spur of the moment and are simply a pleasure to own.”

They include, for example, ‘Citrus Spray’, a spray attachment for citrus fruit by Lékué, which is used to spray the aroma straight from the fruit. It is interesting to see that, of the products chosen for 2013, most are very simple”, says Bergne. ‘Merlin’, a backing mould with a silicon divider by Städter, is also based on a simple but effective idea and permits two different cakes to be baked in a single mould. The ‘Edgeware Better Zester’ citrus-fruit grater by Smith’s Consumer Products with an integrated blade holder and scraper is distinguished by ease of use and practical benefits. Ready meals and bakery products can be given the finishing touch and an impressive presentation made using the ‘Spoon Drop’ by DAUDI.

There are also some clever solutions for storage. The lid of the ‘Lidded Bowls’ by Eva Solo can be rested on the edge of the bowl so that any condensation runs back into the bowl instead of onto the table. A stable tray for any corner is the ‘Press-Sure Corner Caddy’ by Oxo. Easy to install and remove, the Caddy uses tension and friction to keep it in place and can, therefore, also be used on rough surfaces.

The functionality of the various products will be illustrated by short and easily comprehensible video clips at the ‘Solutions’ special show in the foyer of Hall 4.0. The show is open throughout Ambiente from 15 to 19 February.

In a video interview on the Ambiente website, Sebastian Bergne speaks about the selection process, innovations and the different approaches taken by different manufacturers. The interview can be found in the ‘Events’ / ‘Solutions’ section at www.ambiente.messefrankfurt.com
