Business blooms in CarlisleBy Sara SleysterDesMoinesRegister.com

Jen Worthington of Pleasantville opened Flowers Island – a floral and gift shop – last month. She carries fresh arrangements, blooming plants and green plants. Fresh flowers are also available for occasions such as weddings and funerals.

Worthington recently retired from financial services industry. She had always wanted to own her own flower shop so she decided it was finally time to do it. She took classes to learn more about the industry and is a member of the Iowa Florist Association.
