Calypso Studios, Inc. Acquires New East Coast Representation
Calypso Studios, Inc., seven-year-old fashion accessory and gift company, recently partnered with Gib Carson and Associates, a leading manufacturers’ representative in the gift industry.
Gib Carson and Associates, and its sister group Van Carson and Company, will be representing Calypso Studios in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and New England regions (see below for detailed list of coverage).
As a result of the partnership, Calypso Studios, Inc. moves to a new location in Atlanta’s AmericasMart. The company will debut its new 2012 Mid-Year “Glitz and Glamour” collection in the Gib Carson showroom (Showroom 1319 in Building 2) at the July Atlanta Market.
Calypso Studios, Inc. President Ed Lawrence said he is excited to “join forces” with a longtime family friend. Gib Carson, Jr., president of the rep group, also mentioned the pair’s history. “Our family relationship dates back to my father, Gib Sr., selling giftware to Ed’s mother’s gift shop in Midlothian, VA. In 1992 my father hired me to take over the Virginia sales position, where I continued the relationship until they sold their store,” he says.
Both companies are based in Midlothian, VA, which has allowed Carson to witness the birth and growth of Calypso Studios, Inc. over the past seven years. “It’s been impressive to watch Ed’s transition from a rep principal to the manufacturing/importer side,” said Carson. “His selling experience and product background have been the key to the successful growth of Calypso Studios”.
In addition to Atlanta, the group’s 42 sales reps will also be representing Calypso Studios at shows in Philadelphia, Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, and Smoky Mountain.
