Celebrating Independent Stores By Buying LocalBy Dennis DoudaWCCO.com

Minneapolis, MN — Most people love a good deal while shopping, but also want to live in nice neighborhoods. Some small businesses in Minneapolis want you to know, they are good neighbors.

From tablespoons to stainless steel pans, Kitchen Window has everything the discriminating cook could want.

In business for the last 25 years, this place offers products and cooking classes you won’t find at a national chain store.

“I do like that it’s not a big box store. My wife and I live in the area and we try to frequent as many independent stores as we can,” said customer Aaron Graber.

Twenty-five Minneapolis stores, like Kitchen Window, have formed an Independent Business Alliance to promote their businesses.

When you shop at any one of the 25 stores this month, you can enter a sweepstakes for a $50 gift certificate from each store — a $1250 grand prize.

“If they want choice, they want a higher level of service, they actually have to make a conscious decision when they’re making their purchases, to go out and shop local and shop independent, because if they don’t support the independents, they will go away,” said Doug Huemoelle with Kitchen Window.
