Changes in store for downtown OcalaBy Susan Latham CarrOcala.com

There are a couple of changes at familiar places in Ocala’s downtown.

Tres Chic, owned by Danielle Sherman and her mother, Colleen Harper, is moving to larger quarters, and Voilart! Art Gallery & Studio has a new name and some new artists.

Sherman has closed Tres Chic, her home accessory and gift shop at 16 S. Magnolia Ave., and will reopen the shop in early fall at 416 SE Fort King St., the site of the former Veranda Gallery & Tea Room.

“It’s an opportunity we couldn’t pass up,” Sherman said. “Our goal has been from the beginning to have a larger space to have a cafe.”

The new space will allow Sherman and Harper to meet their goal. In addition to their lifestyle boutique with furniture, candles, body care products and jewelry and gifts, they will open a bistro-type restaurant serving dishes made with fresh local ingredients.

“It’s set up for a restaurant. There’s a big porch to eat out front,” Sherman said about the property. “It’s just a great place for people to be able to shop and relax and make an afternoon of it.”
