Midland, TX – When Terri Schroeta’s children, Maddi, now 10, and Major, 6, were younger, as a new mom she wanted only fire retardant items in her home. But looking back, she realizes how many chemicals were in those items.

“Now, I would never want flame resistant anything,” she said, knowing now what’s found in children’s mattresses and bedding.

“How strong do the chemicals have to be to stop a fire?”

So when she was getting ready to open her children’s boutique, Peapods and Petticoats, for business last summer, Schroeta began researching the safest items on the market for children.
