Old Town hosts ‘Taste of Chocolate’ fundraiserBy Penne UsherAuburnJournal.com

It was like trick or treating for adults Sunday afternoon in Old Town Auburn for the sweet event “A Taste of Chocolate.”

Scott Gray of Sacramento roamed the streets with his sister, Karen Ramm of Foresthill, sampling sinfully sweet creations concocted by local merchants.

“We had to have the first one ourselves, but feel guilty so we are taking some home to share,” Gray said.

Their to-go boxes were filled with cupcakes, Grand Marnier truffles and cookies.

The Hair Smith on Lincoln Way offered an organic fair trade chocolate bar with mandarin and lavender that Gray and Ramm agreed was delightful.

The fundraiser, now in its third year in Auburn, was a collaboration between the American Association of University Women and the Old Town Auburn Business Association.

Sunday was the first time Juli and Bill Marty, of Auburn, attended the confectionary tasting.
