DesignWorks Investments Adds Olivina Skincare to its Portfolio
DesignWorks Investments, a private investment firm focused on expanding business opportunities for personal care and gift product companies, has become a majority equity partner of Napa Valley-based skincare products company, Olivina.
Founded in 2002, Olivina is an artisanal skin care company located in the heart of the beautiful Napa Valley. While grown green in California’s wine country, the Olivina Bath and Body Collection features lotions, body washes, hand creams, soaps, and oils rich in natural antioxidants found in local olive and grape seed oils. Crafted for the discerning skincare customer, this product line is earth-friendly and free of phlates, parabens and sulfates making them gentle and nourishing for all skin types.
“We look forward to taking Olivina to the next level,” said Joseph Moore, president and CEO of DesignWorks Investments. “Susan Costner-Kenward, the founder of Olivina, has done an outstanding job of creating beautifully natural products that appeal to a myriad of consumers. This is exactly the market we focus on at DesignWorks and why Olivina is such a good fit for our company.”
Olivina is the second company added to DesignWorks’ portfolio. Its first investment was Paddywax, a candle company based in Nashville, Tenn. that has experienced phenomenal growth through its relationship with DesignWorks – with increased sales of 65 percent last year alone.
“I started Olivina Napa Valley to celebrate the beautiful landscape and lifestyle of California’s wine country. My passion lies in the visionary and artistic elements involved in creating uniquely fragranced skincare products. Partnering with Joe and his team at DesignWorks allows me to focus on this passion. Joe’s well-respected business acumen and ability to develop and manage the nuts and bolts side, makes us perfect partners. We are excited about the future for Olivina and continuing our traditions as an earth-friendly and community-inspired skincare company.”
Moore, the founder of DesignWorks, is a 24-year veteran of the gift product industry. Prior to establishing DesignWorks, he was president and vice chairman of CR Gibson, a national leader in the gift industry founded in 1870. After generating significant increases in both revenue and profit, Moore sold CR Gibson to CSS Industries, a public company traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
“Our goal at DesignWorks is to help companies with great products become stronger companies by providing the capital, national sales network and enterprise-level infrastructure they need to sustain long-term growth,” Moore said. “Providing this kind of assistance allows the designer the time and freedom to create.”
