Discover Abu Dhabi with Blissliving Home’s Spring Summer 2013 Collection

The Spring Summer 2013 collection, Abu Dhabi, was inspired by owner Mei Xu’s journey to this Middle Eastern metropolis, arising from a vast expanse of desert.
“I never found the idea of a desert romantic or exotic. But after moving to the US and getting to know other deserts around the world, thoughts of the colors and shades of light that dance over the sand dunes made something I previously overlooked appear full of endless possibility,” reflects Blissliving Home creator Mei Xu. “Presenting itself with majestic charm, I found Abu Dhabi to be a perfect gateway to a culture and landscape brand new to me—one that provided the perfect inspiration for our newest collection.”
Capturing the brilliant hues of the sky at dusk and inconceivable contrasts in the sand, the collection’s color palate mixes pale purples and grey with deep cocoa browns and sienna, and bright splashes of corals and golden amber.
Taking cues from the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque’s infinite white marble, overwhelming scale, and eccentric embellishments, the collection is heavily infused with details almost as grand as the mosque itself. Rich textures, ample embroidery, uniquely bold designs, and metallic details are injected throughout.
Daliya’s crisp white face provides balance to her elaborately embroidered framework, much like the white marble of the mosque sets the backdrop for its colorful granite motifs and divine gold accents. In either thistle or dove grey, elegantly ornate scroll designs are a modern update to last year’s collaboration with the White House on a classic golden scroll leaf embroidered sheet set for the G8 Summit at Camp David.
Boasting of the meticulous beauty found within palace chambers, Jasmin represents the arabesque patterns which are fundamental to Islamic art and paisley-printed carpets running throughout affluent interiors. The scalloped edge of the repeating pastel pattern is reminiscent of exterior architectural features and the metropolitan skyline, and fuses with jade cotton sateen, embellished with dramatically tucked pick-ups for a charming twist on extravagance.
Inspired by the contrast of conventional customs and contemporary cosmopolitan lifestyles in Abu Dhabi culture, Chanda’s unique look combines modern hues with traditional motifs.
Recalling the peaceful waters of a picturesque coastline, Layla’s sumptuously structured pleats shine in soft and lustrous Gulf Blue Tencel, a tantalizing wrinkle-resistant fabric.
An abundance of ornate accent pillows complete the collection, infusing all the opulence of Abu Dhabi through metallic fabrics, intricate embroidery, leather appliques, and bold hued tassels.
