Drunken Cherry Cookie Company comes to VernonBy Janet RedykeNorthJersey.com

Susan Gregory has lived a very diversified life. She is a graduate of USC, has a year of law school education, was an interior decorator to some famous names like Florida singer Jimmy Buffet and Aerosmith drummer, Kramer. She also raises champion Doberman pinschers and grooms and boards dogs at her business, Applewood Kennels, is a Zagat’s rated chef, owning and operating the now defunct Savannah’s restaurant.

Quite a list of accomplishments for one person, however, the list continues with Gregory’s Dec. 22 opening of her and son Justin’s new venture, The Drunken Cherry Cookie Company of Vernon. Susan Gregory, who adores the Food Network, entered the Ultimate Food Contest, sponsored by TGIFriday, cake and cookie division, with her creation the Drunken Cherry Cookie.

“I actually made it to the finals and it was a lot of fun,” she said.

However, because she refused to sign a release and give up her secret recipe, Gregory was able to keep her recipe, paving a way for the new cookie business. The company specializes in four cookies- the Triple Chocolate Chunk, Peanut Butter Cup Chunk, Malted Milk Ball Chunk and the store’s namesake, the Drunken Cherry.
