State Pride
Mary Beth Babcock is Okie-grown in more ways than one.
As a high school student in Bartlesville, she designed a T-shirt with the school mascot. “I got the inspiration from the Vuarnet sunglasses logo,” she said — “Yes, the ’80s!”
Years later, Babcock continues her style streak at Dwelling Spaces, the eclectic clothing, furniture and gift shop she opened at 119 S. Detroit Ave. a couple of years ago.
Her newest venture is a line of Tshirts she designed, all under the label Okie Grown.
Those who knew Babcock growing up probably aren’t shocked by the creative trek she’s taken. After all, she majored in retail merchandising at Oklahoma State University.
During her scholastic tenure in Stillwater, she worked for Stan Clark Cos. at Eskimo Joe’s print shop, she said.
He had a “big impact,” inspiring her with his enthusiasm for business.
