Fairfield Artist Accepted into International Exhibition

Fairfield, IA – Fairfield artist Tahmi DeSchepper announced her work, “Pearl Filled Crown Sinnet Bracelet”, has been accepted by the Handweaver’s Guild of America (HGA) for their annual Small Expressions exhibit.

Small Expressions 2008 is an international juried exhibit featuring high quality, contemporary fiber art works. The exhibit is sponsored by the HGA to showcase fiber art of a small scale, less than 15 inches in any direction. This highly prestigious exhibition will open at the Tampa Museum of Art and will run from April 18 – July 6, 2008. The show will be comprised of 36 works from HGA members from around the world.

Acceptance into this show marks a high point in Ms. DeSchepper’s career. “I am thrilled to have my work recognized at this level,” says Tahmi DeSchepper. “It is quite an honor that my bracelet will be exhibited with other textile artists of such high caliber.”

The competition for this exhibition was intense. Juror John Marshall, a specialist in traditional Japanese fiber art, stated, “The first cut left me with over seventy selections of exquisite work. It was with great regret that I was not able to include more, but I am quite pleased to be able to present what I feel to be a balanced selection of amazing quality, creativity and expression.”
