Fundex Announces Exclusive Distribution Agreement With Gigamic

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Fundex Games announced it will be the exclusive distributor for Gigamic strategy games. The three-year distribution agreement encompasses North America.

Based in France, Gigamic is known for the attractive wood presentation of its games and has been recognized for creating some of the world’s best strategy games. Gigamic games have earned 50 international awards for excellence worldwide.

“Gigamic games are thoughtfully clever, in which players’ decision making skills are tested at the highest level,” said Chip Voigt, President, Fundex Games. “The game concepts are innovative with rules that are easy to learn but with game situations that differ every time the game is played.”

“We are pleased to begin what we believe will be a long-term relationship with Fundex Games,” said Stephane Gires, CEO, Gigamic International Markets. “Their knowledge and strength in the North American market will expand our games to a broader base of consumers.”

Fundex Games has distribution rights for Gigamic’s entire line of strategy games including the popular Quarto Classic and Quoridor Classic as well as new-for-2008, Marrakech.

Quarto Classic
Recognized as one of the top games of the past 30 years, Quarto is an outstanding game of deductive reasoning with a 4×4 game board and 16 pieces. Each piece has four attributes: color, height, shape and consistency. So each piece is either black or white, tall or short, square or round, and hollow or solid. The object is to place the fourth piece in a row where all four pieces have at least one attribute in common. The twist is your opponent gets to choose the piece you place on the board every turn.

Quoridor Classic
This abstract strategy is surprisingly deep for its simple rules. The object of the game is to advance your pawn to the opposite edge of the board. On your turn you may either move your pawn, or place a wall. You may hinder your opponent with wall placement, but not completely block him off. Meanwhile he is trying to do the same to you. First pawn to reach the opposite side wins.

Marrakech
Each player takes the role of a salesperson who tries to outwit the others. In turn each player rolls the dice and then moves Assam, the market organizer. If Assam stops on an opponent’s rug, the player must make a payment to its owner before putting one of their own rugs on an adjacent space. When the last rug has been laid, the total number of visible rugs and the number owned by each salesperson are added up.
