Gift for Life’s Party for Life raises $202,000+
Gift for Life, the gift and home industries’ sole charitable organization, announced that its 27th annual Party for Life raised more than $202,000 for AIDS treatment and prevention. The annual event, which benefits DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, was held in New York City on Monday, February 4.
The Party for Life featured tasty food, multiple bars and a short program followed by live entertainment. In addition to networking, guests also competed for a wide array of silent auction prizes including exclusive travel packages and unique gift and home décor products donated by top industry suppliers.
Vera Bradley’s Barbara Bradley Baekgaard was presented with the Chuck Yancy Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring her commitment to the industry, her company’s innovative designs, and her generosity.
“The 27th Party for Life was a great success,” said George Kacic, Gift for Life’s chair. “Our industry came out in force to celebrate and to recognize Barbara Baekgaard while raising funds for a great cause. A huge thank you to all of our supporters!”

Gift for Life was founded by Peter Schauben of Appelman Schauben in 1992 in response to the tragic loss of industry lives to AIDS. The organization’s first meeting at the National Stationery Show brought together a cross-section of the industry’s leading publishers, market centers, sales reps, manufacturers and retailers – all willing to convene and work together towards a common goal. Since that time, Gift for Life has raised more than $5 million for AIDS research, education, treatment and care through nationwide at-market events, cause marketing programs and direct donations. In 2008, Gift for Life selected DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS service and education programs in the U.S., as its sole charity partner and beneficiary. In 2018, with Gift for Life’s help, DIFFA National granted $285,000 to 26 organizations providing HIV/AIDS service and education programs nationwide.
