Gift Shop Brings Taste of Douglaston to Your Door
Two Douglaston business owners launched a new gift shop and bakery on 235th Street this week that will allow Queens residents to plan birthday parties for their loved ones without even leaving their homes.
Giftalicious, located at 42-34 235th St. in Douglaston, offers a variety of savory treats, including cakes, cupcakes, candies, cheese and crackers, licorice, ice cream and tarts.
But the store, which opened for business on Monday, also has a variety of gift baskets, cocktail glasses, candles, stationary, fruit baskets, dishes, oils and other home décor.
And most of these delectables and gifts can be delivered to your door.
“It’s definitely unique for the neighborhood,” said Demetra Sirica, who co-owns Giftalicious with Debbie Frantellizzi. “It’s a boutique store – very trendy. Both of us live in Douglaston, so we thought we’d keep it local and open a business in the neighborhood.”
Sirica said she formerly owned a bakery as well as a gift shop in Great Neck.
She expects her shop’s deserts to draw in neighborhood residents. But its deliveries will comprise a large part of the business.
