One of a Kind
Colorful spinning signs beckon visitors inside a small two-bedroom house off Highway 10 in Dilworth.The unassuming white house with a red brick chimney is home to a host of gift items from candles and bread and soup mixes to decorative wall hangings.
Mom’s House of Gifts, owned by Nancy McCaskell and two of her four daughters, opened on Oct. 1, 2006.
“We’ve never done this before,” said Jean Stuart, one of McCaskell’s daughters. “We’ve only been shoppers.”
The gift shop was once a residential home owned by Dilworth’s Pat and Rick Krone, McCaskell’s daughter and son-in-law.
Mom, also known as Nancy McCaskell, owns Mom’s House of Gifts with two of her daughters.
“The house was so cute and they didn’t want to rent it out,” McCaskell said. “We’ve always liked to shop at unique little stores like this. So we try to find things that are unique and different.”Pat Krone always wanted a gift shop. After researching the feasibility, she, Stuart and their mom decided to turn the home into a retail store.
