Goodies is Good as Ever after 25 Years
Highland Park, IL – It’s been 25 years since three women, all of whom were stay-at-home moms at the time, decided to open up a chocolate, candy and gift shop in downtown Highland Park. Today, Goodies is still going strong, which the owners attribute to a simple philosophy: “candy is happy.”
“Candy never goes out of style,” said co-owner Lisa Meitus. “It’s a small, guilty pleasure that makes you feel good, and no matter what people say about being healthy, it doesn’t matter. People still love it.”
Goodies, which celebrated its quarter-century anniversary with complimentary champagne and chocolates May 29, was founded by Lois Morrison, Louis Lapping and Lois’s sister, Karen Ross, all from Highland Park.
