Highland Park artists celebrate holidays with exhibit, gift shopBy Gene RaczMyCentralJersey.com

Highland Park, NJ – The Highland Park Artists Collective will celebrate the holiday season with two events at the Lotus Studios and the White Lotus Home, both located at 431 Raritan Ave.

The events, The Light Show and the Holiday Store, will have their openings at 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.

“This is our second year in existence as a group doing this, and our first with the holiday store,” said Fred Cole, spokesman for the artist collective. “In the White Lotus Home, we’ll be running a holiday store with the idea to sell affordable, original artwork for gifts for the holiday season.”

Cole, who creates sculptures using recycled material, said the art for sale at the holiday store will include smaller-format paintings, cards, prints, jewelry, sculpture, ceramic sculpture and lamps.

The Light Show will present 50 works by 25 artists addressing light as a spiritual presence and symbol for early winter religious celebrations and New Year’s festivals, as well as its place in everyday life and artistic composition.
