Inspiring Christmasworld Highlights

Animated primarily by point-of-sale displays and presentations, most people still buy attractive decorations spontaneously. And this is certainly reason enough for Christmasworld to offer visitors valuable inspiration for successfully tempting customers and making sales. Accordingly, the leading international trade fair for festive decorations is distinguished not only by the latest products of over 900 exhibitors but also a variety of events and lectures.

An overview of the highlights and innovations at Christmasworld in Frankfurt am Main from 24 to 28 January 2014 follows:

Christmasworld Trend Show (New: Galleria 1, South)

“Refine the style and touch the spirit”

Trend bureau bora.herke.palmisano presents the colours and materials of the coming season at the Christmasworld Trend Show. With products from selected exhibitors, the designers give buyers valuable inspiration and ideas for trend-oriented product and shop-window displays. The Trends for 2014/15 are ‘silent dignity’, ‘geometric gravity’, ‘shaded modesty’ and ‘dazzling beauty’ whereby the eye-catching trends have been replaced by a touching bashfulness. A new creative energy arises from a conscious tranquillity. The desire for a carefully chosen decoration increases – something that holds good for all of the year’s festivities, especially Christmas and Advent. All exhibitors taking part are named on the products to be seen at the Trend Show. In other words, it represents a perfect source of ideas and a solid ordering aid. Lectures and guided tours by the design team will be held daily at 11.00 and 13.30 hrs (Galleria 1, South).

‘Newstalgia’ special show (New: Galleria 1, North)

Inspiration for large-scale, shop window and in-shop presentations with a WOW effect

“I wish you a ‘Newstalgia’ Christmas and Happy New Year” – under this motto, the Dutch designer duo of 2dezign have built an eleven-metre high castle with a toy factory and product line for Christmas articles and gifts in Galleria 1. With ‘Newstalgia’, Rudi Tuinman and Pascal Koeleman take visitors into a fascinating world that brings back wonderful memories of enchanting childhood Christmases. With a nostalgic style and a sea of fresh and artificial flowers, they provide inspiration for new shop-window and in-shop presentations. The Christmas landscape is the perfect setting for decorative elements from international exhibitors.

New: Decoration Star Innovation Award

The Decoration Star Innovation Award will be presented for the first time at the coming Christmasworld and make stars out of products distinguished, for example, by special features, excellent design, complexity, ergonomics or special environmental friendliness. Held in cooperation with Germany’s Bit-Verlag publishing company, the Decoration Star is given in three categories – Christmas Star (products for the Christmas festivities), Seasonal Star (products for seasonal decorations and gifts) and Promotion Star (advertising, sales promotions, PoS activities). All products entered will be shown in a special exhibition and described in a bilingual brochure. The awards ceremony will be held at the Christmasworld Forum (Hall 8.0 D11) at 10.30 hrs on Friday, 24 January 2014.

Les Sapins de Noël & Christmasworld (Foyer 11.0, North)

Creation by Stella McCartney to be raffled

Design and creativity for a good cause: following the Christmas-tree interpretations by Jean Paul Gaultier and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac for the Parisian ‘Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs’ charity campaign, Stella McCartney will ensure a touch of haute couture in 2014 when Christmasworld presents her very personal interpretation of Christmas symbolism, which visitors can win in a raffle (Foyer 11.0). With the purchase of this unique work of art, Christmasworld continues its commitment as sponsor and partner of the ‘Association Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs’ for the third year running. For 18 years now, the Paris-based organisation has been inviting renowned creative personalities from the worlds of fashion, architecture and design to create their own version of the traditional Christmas tree, which is then auctioned for a good cause at a benefit event. All proceeds go to Fondation AVEC, a cancer-research charity.

Christmasworld Forum (Hall 8.0 D11)

Everything for long-term business success – including the Webchance Academy

The Christmasworld Forum in Hall 8.0 offers an attractive programme of lectures and workshops with something different every day. This year, simultaneous translations into English will also make it of interest to international visitors. On the agenda are items for florists, decorators, retailers and DIY market and garden-centre operators. Experienced speakers will provide tips for long-term business success on all five days. On the Tuesday of the fair, the Webchance Academy will also welcome visitors from the concurrent Paperworld and Creativeworld fairs. Then, the spotlight will be on successful advertising and sales on the internet – especially for bricks-and-mortar retailers wanting to increase their knowledge and expand their activities in the online business.

The programmes can be found on the internet at: www.christmasworld.messefrankfurt.com and www.webchance-academy.de/christmasworld-forum-programm

German Christmas Crafts (Hall 9.1 C70)

Special platform for superb handicrafts from Germany

At the German Christmas Crafts area in Hall 9.1, exhibitors present high-quality and exclusive arts & crafts from Germany. This platform represents a unique opportunity for US and Asian buyers to extend their product assortments with the most popular Christmas products with the ‘Made in Germany’ seal of quality. At Christmasworld, visitors can obtain a compact overview of the latest products, e.g., hand-made nativity scenes, pyramids and figures made of wood, glass and porcelain. At German Christmas Crafts, they will encounter exhibitors able to supply everything from individual items to bulk products to customers at home and abroad.

The Christmas Garden Market competition

The search is on for the most creative and attractive Advent decorations at www.weihnachtlicher-gartenmarkt.de! This year, customers from garden centres in Germany, Austria and Switzerland can vote for their favourite decorations. And it will remain exciting until the last minute because the final result will not be announced until the awards ceremony in Hall 8.0, Stand D 11, at 16.30 hrs on 26 January 2014 – after the jury of experts has voted, too. The competition is being organised by Christmasworld, German Association of Garden Centres (Verband Deutscher Garten-Center e.V – VDG), ‘DEGA Grüner Markt’ trade magazine and ‘Mein Paradies’ consumer publication. The winners of the competition in The Netherlands will be announced at 16.30 hrs on Friday, 24 January 2014.
