Introducing Makers’ Market: Urban Expositions Expands, Re-brands Popular Handcrafted Gift Show Sector

A key product sector in a number of Urban Expositions’ gift shows, Handcrafted has always been a destination area for retailers seeking artisan quality crafts and distinctive designs. Responding to this growing demand and seeking ways to continue to increase business growth opportunities for artists and designers in this sector, Urban has re-branded the section as Makers’ Market and expanded the promotional and marketing efforts and opportunities for 2015.

A versatile, juried product showcase, Makers’ Market will bring

together artisans and designers featuring hand-styled crafts in all media and across such categories as tabletop, ceramics, textiles, home decor, jewelry, apparel and more. The section will be featured at Urban’s Philadelphia, Seattle, California, Windy City, San Francisco, Boston, Portland and Orlando Gift Shows.

“Retailers are always looking for unique new designs that can help differentiate their stores in their communities. We wanted to highlight this offering while also creating a cost-effective way for talented artisans and craftspeople to connect with these retailers and offer a win-win business growth opportunity for all,” explains Doug Miller, president, Urban Expositions.

As part of the re-branding efforts, the Urban team will work to expand artisan participation in the new Makers’ Market show sections. In addition to reasonable, custom-tailored booth packages ranging from pavilion tables to 10′ x 10′ booths, exhibitors will benefit from a range of marketing opportunities, including photography spotlights in show preview guides, call-outs on show websites, mobile apps and broadcast emails. What’s more, all artists can enter the “Best Maker” award where their designs will be featured in a show floor display area for attendees to view and vote on the best design.

In addition to exploring an expanded selection, retailers will be able to attend free educational sessions dedicated to marketing and merchandising the handcrafted sector.
