The Organic Cotton Joobles Collection Wins a 2009 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award

Madison, WI — The Joobles have it all. They’re cuddly, cute, affordable, eco-friendly and now they’re Gold Seal Award winners. The Organic Cotton Joobles Collection recently won the 2009 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award, and they’ve been nominated for the organization’s highest honor, the Platinum Seal Award, which will be announced later this year.

The Joobles are charming hand knit animals, made under fair trade conditions at small factories and co-ops in Peru. Each Jooble is made with organic cotton, grown without the use of pesticides or chemicals. They retail for $29 each.

Here’s what the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio had to say about the Joobles by Fair Indigo:

“Adorable cotton handknit critters about 12″ long and made of organic cotton in a co-op in Peru. These are soft to the touch, whimsical huggables with stitched features. Choose from a monkey, spotted giraffe, puppy, cow, buzzy bug, bear or cat. There are no bad choices. They are all adorable!”

The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Awards are given to outstanding new products that enhance the lives of children. They are only awarded to children’s products that are “a very good, worth-the-money product.”

About Oppenheim Toy Portfolio
The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio was founded in 1989 as the only independent consumer review of children’s media. According to their website, “we test and review products for children the year-round– only we get to do what most parents wish they could do before they buy. We open the toys, run the videos, read the books, play the music, and boot up the software. We send the best of these products on to our families of testers for further evaluation.” The mother-and-daughter Oppenheims, Joanne and Stephanie, are monthly contributors on NBC’s Today Show.

About Fair Indigo
Fair Indigo is a new clothing and toy company with a different way of doing business. They create stylish, high-quality products, many of them organic or eco-friendly, while paying a fair and meaningful living wage to the people who produce them. It’s a concept known as “fair trade” and it means putting people first.
