Las Vegas Market offers products, programs for casual & outdoor industry

Las Vegas Market has announced that two educational sessions — addressing casual and outdoor category trends and business opportunities — will be presented in partnership with Casual Living during the Winter 2018 Las Vegas Market, Jan. 28-Feb. 1.  In total, some 180-plus casual and outdoor resources will be featured in permanent showrooms and temporary exhibition space on floors C12 and C13 during the Winter Market.

“Casual/outdoor is one of the fastest-growing segments in the home furnishings category, and Las Vegas Market is uniquely timed to address shifting industry needs for buying and selling,” said Ryan Mahoney, senior vice president of furniture leasing. “With industry leaders like Agio developing new programs for our Winter Market, Las Vegas Market is rapidly changing the pre-market launch paradigm for the casual/outdoor industry.”

Mahoney pointed to industry research showing significant growth in the casual/outdoor category as one of the reasons for the segment’s successful growth at Las Vegas Market. “A September 2017 Casual Living study reported that outdoor features are included in 91% of newly constructed homes, and outdoor furniture sales are projected to grow 4.1 percent to more than $4.7 billion in 2017.  Las Vegas Market is tapping into this demand by providing casual, outdoor and patio buyers from all distribution channels with a 250,000-plus square foot all-season, year-round category offering in one convenient location, as well as ready access to a breadth of complementary product offerings from top furniture, home décor and gift vendors exhibiting across our campus.”

Casual Seminars & Events

As an extension of this category growth, Las Vegas Market and Casual Living again will partner to present dedicated educational programming for casual and outdoor buyers and suppliers.  On Sunday, January 28, 2:00-3:00pm, “Outdoor on the Rise: Casual Living’s 2018 Universe Study,” Waynette Goodson, editor-in-chief of Casual Living and Exterior Design, will provide a comprehensive assessment of the outdoor industry, identifying growth areas and analyzing sales trends by segment. Goodson will present the report’s findings and explain what these trends mean for the industry.

On Tuesday, Jan. 30, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Goodson will lead a second session addressing the importance of outdoor spaces and how the “fifth room” can boost business for interior designers. Sponsored by Exterior Design, “Casual Living Panel Discussion: The Business of Outdoor Design,” will explore how exterior spaces present a wealth of opportunity for the interior design community. Panelists will include designers Kelli Ellis, a celebrity interior designer, artist and lifestyle expert; Barry Livingstone, an interior designer, realtor, published author and industry influencer; and Gary Pettitt, CEO of Seasonal Living, manufacturer of indoor and outdoor furniture and accessories.

Both educational sessions will be held in the Casual Furniture Seminar Room on C12.  Las Vegas Market also will offer complimentary wi-fi, refreshments and daily Happy Hour on the Casual Floors, C12 and C13, Sunday through Wednesday4 to 6 p.m., to provide hospitality and networking opportunities during Winter Market.
