Local Businesses See Sales Jump on Small Business Saturday
Tiverton, RI – Like small-business owners across the country, shopkeepers at historical Tiverton Four Corners were taking advantage of a national promotion in its fourth year that encourages shoppers to support local merchants on Small Business Saturday, one day after Black Friday, the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season.
“It’s been awesome,” said Grace Warren, assistant manager at the funky boutique Salt Clothing and Gifts on Main Road. “It’s surprising how supportive people are of small businesses, even yesterday when they could have been shopping in the big stores. Everybody is in the holiday spirit and shopping locally.”
Next door at The Cottage, with its luscious selection of home goods and design, Linda Rousseau and her staff were busy helping shoppers as a steady stream of people came in through the store’s front door Saturday afternoon.
