High River, AB – More than 50 shoppers piled into local business, Creative Accents, on Dec. 2 as part of a Cash Mob – an initiative where a group of people gather to shop at a local store. Organizer Trina Boyd first began conducting Cash Mobs in Okotoks, where they have “mobbed” a toy store, an antique store and a pet store since September.

“We are supporting a local business and we do that by meeting as a group on a set day and time,” Boyd said. “Each of us will spend (at least) $20 and so just by going in as a mob with $20 each, that’s a major cash injection for the business.”

This time around, Boyd said she decided to bring the mob to High River as she knew businesses needed the support and profit boost.
