LockerLookz Turns Drab Middle School Hallways into Fab Runways One Wallpaper, Mirror & Chandelier at a Time

The look of happiness in a tween girl’s eye is when the class bell rings and she rushes to her locker, opens it and smiles. She’s got LockerLookzTM. It’s the hottest trend sweeping junior high halls according to the New York Times, national morning TV and tween girls. Because surrounding the pre-algebra book, social studies paper and lunch bag are purple zebra wallpaper, a lush purple shag rug and a matching white chandelier. All at a price way cheaper than a pair of her Ugg boots! See what’s new for lockers in 2012 at Toy Fair Booth 6253 where LockerLookz launches its Couture and Bold & Beautiful lines.

Just like a girl’s bedroom wallpaper and bedspread convey whom she is (or hopes to be) so can a school locker decorated with wallpaper, bins, whiteboard, light fixture and thick carpet – – in miniature of course! Fresh off a year of strong business and national publicity, LockerLookz takes décor a step further with the addition of clocks, curtains and valances for the It locker look!

“If middle school had an emblem, it would be the locker,” heralded the fall front-page story in the New York Times (October 10, 2011), “the first taste of privacy at school at a moment in life when that means a lot. At the same time, lockers are public, visible to anyone walking down the hallway, and therefore an ideal platform to convey one’s image.”

Within hours of that newspaper article describing LockerLookz — complete with a photograph of a Texas girl reaching into her pink leopard wallpapered metal locker — TV producers and newspaper editors coast to coast clamored to feature the products envisioned by Christi Sterling and JoAnn Brewer, LockerLookz co-owners (and middle school moms). The media hype capped off a bonanza year of retail success and contest honors for their stylish mix and match décor pieces for the most unglamorous part of a tween’s life – the drab school locker. Hallmark, Learning Express and small specialty shops excitedly wrote orders. And those stores with bare shelves clamored to reorder. The product was so hot that some stores literally could not get the chic goods unpacked and displayed. Tweens (and their moms) mobbed the accessories and bought them straight out of the cardboard shipping cartons!

That same week Hoda Kotb of the TODAY Show gushed, “they have everything now. This is genius,” when the motion sensor LockerLookz chandelier turned on as they opened three decorated lockers on the set. After seeing the New York Times story, Good Morning America filmed a lengthy feature in Dallas, and concluded,

“Not a lot of kids are going to come over to your house in your school. In your locker, it’s a way of having your own little thing. Remember, this is where all the action happens in junior high or high school,” said GMA’s Lara Spencer.

And TV host Ellen DeGeneres joked on camera that if she styled her locker it would include a “jacuzzi” and flat-screen TV that she then added, in miniature, to her Lockerlookz studio display. Perhaps the Chicago Tribune put it best when they described the LockerLookz accessories line: “Like an office water cooler, a school locker is a meeting place where friends can gossip or get in a quick study session. Whether it’s between classes or after school, your locker will be seen by lots of passers-by, so you’ll want to make it pop with personality.”

Targeted for girls ages 8-14, LockerLookz was based on solid research. Their fashionable products allow young girls to express themselves and pass the price test (affordable) and the peer test (adorable). Their website, www.LockerLookz.com, allows not only high fashion shopping but a virtual locker where girls can instantly mix and match products to get a perfect look. Their new 2012 Collections— Couture and Bold & Beautiful—include glamorous wallpapers to complement matching or contrasting whiteboards, mirrors, rugs, bins and jeweled flower magnets. Their newest lines offer more décor trends to express their tween- age years—clocks, bow & key magnets, curtains and valances!

Both collections will hit stores by June 1 for back-to-school summer shoppers. LockerLookz unique wallpapers are original creations hand-drawn by an illustrator, and then printed for distribution.

ABOUT LOCKER LOOKZ
LockerLookz was born when two moms, Christi Sterling and JoAnn Brewer, went looking for locker decorations and couldn’t find anything specifically for that purpose. Knowing how excited their own daughters were about customizing their school lockers, the two moms immediately realized they had to create a ready-made locker design system with coordinated items that were easy to install. To accomplish this, Christi and JoAnn felt they needed to create an entire locker “look” which ultimately led them to their company name…LockerLookz.

LockerLookz seeks to provide students an avenue of positive self-expression through a unique locker decorating experience. Offering a mix-and-match locker design collection, LockerLookz strives to make locker decorating fun and easy while making the buying experience exciting and convenient. Additionally, our goal is to provide a school-friendly product that is non-adhesive and won’t damage lockers. For more details, visit the company’s website at www.LockerLookz.com.
