Main Street Gift Shop now open in downtown Conroe
While it hasn’t quite yet been discovered by shoppers, a new gift store in downtown Conroe is filled with treasures for just about anyone.
Main Street Gift Shop, located at 206 N. Main St., is owned by Vanessa Powell, wife of Conroe Mayor Pro Tem Toby Powell. The store opened Oct. 30 but will have its grand opening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Dec. 4.
For Vanessa Powell, who had owned a store in Montgomery, several things worked together toward her goal of having a shop in downtown Conroe.
“I love the historic area of town. I don’t know how many times I’ve told Toby, ‘I wish I had a shop down here,'” she said. “I sold my shop (in Montgomery) to my sister because I wanted to spend more time with my daughter and grandchildren. In August, they moved to Scotland. I told Toby, ‘I need something to do.’
“This spot just came open. We were looking at open buildings; this one became available and we grabbed it.”
