Manual Woodworkers & Weavers Inc. Celebrates 75th Anniversary
Hendersonville, NC – Manual Woodworkers & Weavers, Inc. is celebrating 75 years of excellence and success in business this year.
In 1932, Tom and Queenie Oates opened The Manual Woodworkers, a small souvenir and craft business in Gerton, North Carolina. Using electrical power generated by a water wheel from a nearby stream, Tom made wood souvenirs on a wood lathe while Queenie gathered crafts made by local artisans. Today, 75 years later, Manual continues to peak the consumer’s interest by producing quality products that top the charts in the gift and home decor industries. Domestic production includes pillows, throws, tabletop wovens, tapestry wall hangings, bedding and more. In 2000, the company began designing and importing coordinating ceramics and accent home furnishings. Then in 2003, the highly successful brand Isabella’s Journey was introduced and created a huge impact in the industry and expanded the company’s product base to include handbags, luggage, apparel, upscale home decor products and more. Manual works with a multitude of renowned licensed artists such as Thomas Kinkade, April Cornell and Susan Winget and boasts a talented in-house staff of designers and fine artists. Manual provides it’s customers with variety in trend-setting product design and style and has grown to become a primary leader in the gift and decorative accessories industry. The foundation of quality, craftsmanship, design and pride established in 1932 continues today, bringing to market the best selection, prices and dedicated service.
