Mother opens cupcake bakery next door to daughter’s dog bakeryBy ANgel McCurdyDestin.com

Fort Walton Beach, FL — Two bakeries now sit side-by-side with a lot in common, but their clientele are very different.

Cupcakes by the Beach is the newest shop in downtown Fort Walton Beach. Owner Vanessa Poch opened June 21 in the perfect location: Right beside her daughter.

“It just seemed right,” Vanessa said. “I wanted to do that niche market and this was the perfect location.”

Nicole Poch, Vanessa’s daughter, owns the animal bakery 3 Dogs and a Chick that was located in the Cupcakes by the Beach location for three years before moving recently to the former Coach and Four gift shop space next door.

The duo discussed plans for Vanessa to move in next door six months prior to the move.

“It seemed like the perfect little spot for a café or a bakery,” Nicole said. “I love her being next door. We pop in multiple times and check on each other.”
