National Housewares Events Launching in Dallas This June
Dallas Market Center today announced a series of national events and key expansions promoting gourmet food and housewares products in advance of the June Total Home & Gift Market, June 20-26. The Gourmet Market is undergoing a complete renovation and expansion, two new categories of gourmet food and housewares are being added to the FINDS Dallas Temp Show, and multi-line showrooms Source One Marketing and The McLendon Company are increasing their size. These additions will expand gourmet food and housewares resources in Dallas by more than 20 percent, with additional expansion opportunities expected for 2013.
In support of the new resources, an array of special events and educational opportunities will help inspire and instruct gourmet food and housewares buyers from around the world.
Dallas Market Center will welcome the Housewares Training and Information (HTI) buying group to Market. HTI will present a dynamic breakfast seminar and one-on-one consultations hosted by Bob Coviello, HTI founder and president. “The Philosophy, Art and Science of Buying” is an interactive session helping retailers approach the art of buying with scientific discipline. The seminar will take place Friday, June 22 at 9 a.m. in the Expo Area of the World Trade Center (WTC) 1st floor. A $5 fee includes full breakfast. In addition, free one-hour private consulting sessions with Bob will be offered Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Outside of The Gourmet Market (WTC 1-180), a portable Demo Kitchen will debut with special appearances by celebrity and local chefs Thursday through Sunday highlighted by renowned Australian Chef Curtis Stone. At noon on Saturday, June 23 chef Stone will prepare tasty samplings of his favorite dishes during a cooking and product demo. After the demo, Stone will sign his latest cookbook, Relaxed Cooking with Curtis Stone, and buyers are invited to see the full line of his cookware, bakeware and servingware. Later that afternoon he will be available to meet buyers in Source One Marketing, Trade Mart (TM) 1-1949.
The Aussie chef leads a line-up of more than 12 culinary experts who will share cooking tips and favorite recipes. Join Top Chef Tre Wilcox, Paris-based cowgirl chef Ellise Pierce, world- renowned cheesemonger Paula Lambert, Anastacia Quinones of Komali, Cable Smith of Mason Bar, Robert Lyford with Patina Green Home and Market, Jennifer Otsuki of House of Blues, Manuel Arredondo of Manuel’s Creative Cuisine, Brian Johnson of the American Airlines Center, Edgar Solis of Dallas Market Center, and many others.
Previously announced were new categories in the FINDS Dallas Temp Show for food and housewares. Foodie FINDS will feature specialty gourmet food and beverage items including candies, jams, sauces, mixes, and more. Table & Houseware FINDS will include a collection of functional gifts, dining, cooking and entertaining wares, as well as clever items for the home. Many of the products in both categories include gift packaging suitable for all types of retailers.
Also previously announced, Source One Marketing has expanded its showroom space and offers a range of houseware products including cast iron cookware, kitchen gadgets, bakeware, serving bowls, entertainment accessories and more.
